How to replace the filter in the Samsung fridge
A clean water filter in your Samsung french door, four flex, or side-by-side refrigerator may make a significant impact on the quality of your water. Furthermore, keeping a clean water filter minimizes sediment accumulation, which can lead to a water dispenser or ice machine repair problem in the future. Without technical knowledge, Samsung has made it simple to update your water filter. To get you started, here are some step-by-step instructions.
Step 1: Obtain the Appropriate Samsung Water Filter
We recommend that you buy the Samsung Factory Water Filter. If at all possible, stay away from knock-off brands. They are less expensive, but the quality is not similar.
The Samsung Factory Water Filter is available for purchase on Amazon, generally with next-day delivery on conventional Prime or free 2-hour delivery on Prime Now.
We recommend signing up for Amazon Subscribe and Save for future purchases. Set your water filter to ship automatically every five months, and you’ll never have to worry about an out-of-date filter again!
You may also check your local Lowe’s, Home Depot, or appliance parts store.
Step 2: Double-check that you have the correct component!
Refrigerator water filters are model number specific, which means you must get the exact filter for your refrigerator–any water filter will not suffice.
Note: Before opening the packet, make sure you have the right filter. The water filter cannot be returned once it has been installed.
Most Samsung french doors, four flex, and side-by-side refrigerators utilize water filter part number DA29-00020B (seen below), but use the refrigerator model number to ensure you’re getting the right filter.
Samsung Water filters have a lifespan of 300 gallons or six months, whichever comes first. More information may be found below:
Your Samsung water filter will arrive with a new water filter, an instruction manual, and sticker reminders of the filter’s expiration date.
Step 3: Find the Samsung Water Filter in your refrigerator.
The position of the water filter is determined by the setup of your Samsung refrigerator.
On French Doors and Four Flex versions, the water filter is situated between the produce drawers in the fresh food area (as pictured below).
On a Samsung side-by-side refrigerator, the water filter is positioned on the fresh food side, on the right-hand side of the bottom drawer.
Step 4: Get the Filter Ready for Installation
Simply remove the plastic wrapping and unscrew the top cap to ready the filter for installation. A ready filter will look like this…
Step 5: Put the Samsung Water Filter in place.
Turn the filter knob to the left to install the water filter. It takes roughly a quarter turn to remove the filter.
You should be able to remove the filter without having to turn off the water. If the filter will not come out, gently move your refrigerator forward and switch off the main water supply.
Install the replacement filter by screwing it in place 1/4 clockwise. When the filter locks into place, you may hear a pressure noise; this is typical.
Count 6 months ahead and place the appropriate sticker on the filter handle to remind you when it’s time to change the filter, as shown below.
Step 6: Remove 1 gallon of water from the system.
1 gallon of water should be sent through the filter. For 3-5 seconds, you may hear some air in the lines. This is quite normal. Remove the water. Your water dispenser is now operational!
Step 7: Reset the Water Filter Change Indicator.
Hold down the Crushed Ice button for 3 seconds to reset the Change Water Filter Indicator light.
When should I change my Samsung refrigerator water filter?
To acquire fresh, filtered water, you’ll need a clean water filter. We recommend changing the water filter every six months. The water filter light on the refrigerator will alert you when the six-month period is up and should be reset after changing the filter.
Remember to use only Samsung Genuine Filters intended to work with your Samsung refrigerator. You may buy them straight from Amazon. Third-party water filters may leak and cause damage to the refrigerator.
Conclusion
It is straightforward and should just take a few minutes to replace your water filter. Check the indicator light on your refrigerator to see whether you need to change the filter. For example, when the filter is fresh, the light may be blue, yellow, or green, depending on the type of your refrigerator.
The light will become purple when it’s almost time to change the filter. The light will turn red after 6 months. You should immediately alter the filter at this point.
